Good Thoughts

The words below mentioned is by Warren Buffet..who is a 78 year of man and yet continues to be a witty person in the field of business. He is a businessman, investor and Philanthropist ( meaning - one who donates money, service and good in reward of nothing to support a social beneficial cause)
"We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations.
Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess.
Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older.
This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.
Hard work : All hard work brings profit; but mere talk leads only to poverty.
Laziness : A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.
Earnings : Never depend on a single source of income.
Spending : If you buy things you don't need, you'll soon sell things you need.
Savings : Don't save what is left after spending; Spend what is left after saving.
Accounting : It's no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.
Auditing : Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.
Risk-taking : Never test the depth of the river with both feet.
Investment : Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
I'm certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I'm equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly regain their financial health.
Let us become wiser and lead a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life."

Look whose shopping!!

Lesson learnt from taking my Son shopping - "Avoid taking kids to Shopping!!!" . This might sound offensive/cruel but belive me its really a fact. This would be a last day that I take him to the mall to buy the routine house items. We found that were doing the monitoring of my son than buying things, because the choosing resposibility was done by my Son, who was uninvited to do it. He takes all things that reaches his hands and the basket was full of chocolates when we reached the Bill counter. We had to request the Counter guy to ignore three fourth of the items in the basket. I found it annoying at the same time Sweet with this 2 year old who thinks he has grown big to take up this errand.

Indian Institute of World Culture

I would like to introduce you to the Library that I am a member of since 2002. Its the "Indian Institute of World Culture". Being a member there has made me to love books and I have realised the satisfaction in reading. The question that one could have is what made me to tell me about this Library!! . Here is what I am eager to tell - I happened to borrow an usual Novel and two Magazines which I did not take meaning to read it, its just for the sake that I had the card. But I find that without my knowledge I have done something which has now helped me to explore the "World of Gita". The Magazine is "Gita for Everyday Living".
My opinion about what modern world fells about Gita is that its just a book on what advices Krishna gives Arjuna. But reading this Magazine I have explored more. Here are few topics that the magazine talks about
1. Work Ethics ( Who does not need this!!)
2. True Love and Happiness ( Hey Valentine's day is around )
3. Emotional Stability ( God..we need this..Recession is all around ;( )
4. Self Transformation ( Does one have time to think about self )
5. Ecological Balance ( What is this ???)
6. Management Lessons ( How do I handle my Manager !!!)
I feel all that is mentioned about is very much related to our world.
So friends..do subscribe this book...it can give another meaning to life.
This book is supported by Swami Vivekananda's words which could be absorbed by the modern world. This is one of the Statement that Swami said - Stand up and Fight. Not one step back - that is the idea. Fight it out, whatever comes; let the stars move from the spheres! Let the whole world stand against us!. You gain nothing by becoming cowards..you are infinite, deathless, birthless. Because you are infinite spirit, it does not befit you to be a slave. Arise, Awake! Stand up and fight! - GIVE IT A THOUGHT FRIENDS.

Cubical Decoration

My day ended wonderfully today. Reason - We had the cubical decoration competition in our company and we had participated in it. Thanks to my colleague who pulled me into it. Usually I am a person who avoid such activity. But being part of it on her compulsion has made me realise what I had been missing for all the occasion that I had avoided. The decoration was a team idea and all three of us had equal part to play. Each of us had our own thoughts and suggestion and accepting and respecting each others thoughts is very important in such an activity. We had decided to do it two days before and we came out with a satisfying result. Finally we were happy. Our work made us happy. Appreciating yourself for your work ..is what we did. The other teams of our floor had done a fabulous job and the judges on seeing this were dumb struck. Their way of putting is was - Speechless, Fantastic, Amazing, Setting Standards, Enthusiastic, High Energy...By evening we were tired as though we had attended our relatives wedding and we had done lotz of work. Our floor was like a Exhibition, where in one end there is a Hut and other end there is a Mela, in the Middle there is a Dabba and an E-Gao. Good memories to remember. Our Manger was just proud of us. We had him in our snap...which would have made him happy!!

GOLD LADY!!!

I do not know who they are, but it came to be as an attachment. I am sure many of them would not had such a view. This still continues in Kerala, India i.e In the Christian, Hindu and the Muslim community. It seems like there is a competition going on. Even in such a Global slowdown situation, there are people who get heaped by Gold like this. She needs to be careful, I am sure her neck would have had a sprain that day!. On the other hand, i don't think so, because Kerala is capable of making ornament look very tempting by using just less actual gold and more of brass. So, one might find selection, but might not find the quality. The gold in Dubai is the finest, which is what I heard. Should go to the Dubai shopping festival one day, to buy gold :)

Slum dog Millionaire.

I watched this movie twice on my weekend. First impression of this movie - Its the best!!. The Director though not an Indian has brought out the surroundings of the two boys in Bombay streets just perfectly. I being an Indian did not know there were Toilets of such a fashion. I wish to Congratulate each and every person who has played a role in making of this movie, especially the Charterers played for Jamal and Salim. All 3 actors has given life to the role. Youngest Jamal - Ayush Mahesh Khedekar - so innocent was he. I liked the part where he was trying to catch the ball. Middle Jamal - Tanay Hemant Chheda - very gentle and sweet, suiting the character. Youngest Salim - Azharuddin Hohammed Ismail - acted wonderfully - as sense of inferiority complex shown fabulously by him. Middle Salim - Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala - Very bold looking. Older Salim - Madhur Mittal - Good performance. Its not a surprise that this movie won the Academy awards. I prefered to see the "Jamals" and the "Salims" to be receiving the award than Anil Kapoor who has not done something extraordinary when compared to them. Hope to see them recognised in some platform. Best Wishes for them.
