Team Dinner.

Awaiting for the team dinner was finally ended last Friday. We had the dinner at Barbecue Nation at J P Nagar. First impression of the restaurant was that it had bright lighting's, which was good, unlike the sister restaurant at Koramangala where there were dim lights, hard to pick anything from the floor if fallen. We were 12 members, settled at two different tables. Naturally, ladies and men separated. I wonder when that culture will change. Until we hang on to it, we are never equal according to me. Challenge exist in sitting face to face in any social sitting. I am sounding Feminist, isn't it??

Our team is of 3 members which is a small count, so we were merged with another team just for the fun of having dinner together. The things that I found new is, there was a singer performing live ( not whole hearted ), he was looking sad. All the people on the floor was busy enjoying and talking to each other and very few noticed him singing. I also understood that eating crab is not a simple task. If you need to relish it, you will really need to work for it. We finally ended the dinner with a wonderful dessert which the Vegetarians of this group was waiting for. Feel sorry for these guys, there is no other option:). While myself a non-vegetarian, had enjoyed only the non-veg items available, without even questioning what i was about to eat, which I usually do to avoid having beef meat. Later i knew that no beef meat was used in preparation.

During all this action happening little did I realise I did not lock my vehicle which I had parked and the key was hanging from the vehicle, which was very prominently visible. Lucky me, Thank God, My vehicle was untouched.

Here are few photos which I carry forward as a visit to Barbecue nation with few wonderful people. And guy's you all look wonderful in these snaps!!!

Cricket Match

Personally Cricket is a game of 11 fools all running around one ball ( Only my opinion) . I have just come out of our company cafeteria which has a 49 inch LCD television installed for the entertainment of the employees and today its served its purpose for telecasting an one day cricket between India and Srilanka. Almost one fourth of the company's staff presence was noticed (rest should have the Internet refreshed, i suppose). Its the last stage of 4 balls and 6 runs needed by Sri Lanka. When seeing all faces I felt as though they were given the responsibility to throw the ball. A few minutes of happiness is what everyone received at the last ball of Nehra. But that is a moment to rejoice with others around, I could see men jumping, some clapping, some whistling, different expression around. I was a silent onlooker of these audience around and expecting a six to be hit by the Srilankan guy :)

A Day at Taj West End

Well it was a wonderful opportunity for me to visit a 5 star hotel in Bangalore, which I would not bother to think off in my life. Of course its from my COMPANY!!! Its a wonderful place, and has good ambiance. The arrangement was wonderful, felt like a fairy land place, with lights on the narrow stretch of lane which lead to a tree with lights hanging. Here are some beautiful pic's that I have taken.

At Chancery Pavillion

Well here I am having a great opportunity to have dinner with the Vice President of the company. I was excited as I was chosen one among the other 30 members in the whole lot of 1300 employees to be part of the dinner. The venue was the Chancery Pavillion. Reached on time. We are the first ones to be present. It's become a trend that every activity planned on time should be delayed. Its become a part of the Indianism, but I am totally unlike this. I value time and I expect others to do the same. But somehow cannot expect this from the VP right ? He should be an example for the others. But he was a wrong example. Planned to start at 7.00, started only at 8.30. During this time i got time to wonder around this grand 3 star hotel. I could take wonderful pics.
Ones the VIP was present introduction started as usual and until 10.00pm my chance never came up. I had to leave as I was obliged to. I was wondering how I would drive in the empty roads for 15 Kms. I did not have the dinner. I reached home at 11.00 to see my lovely son waiting for me. He is very composed and I took a day to get him back to normal.
We go hunting for something and do not get what we expect but there is always home which will make you forget the bad part of life.

Team Lunch

Today was kind of day-off for me even though I had to come to office. Had to be part of a team lunch. I just want to wonder over the question what is the kind of atmosphere should a get together be like. Keeping in mind that the company is paying for us, does it oblige us to speak only of company stuff and its values or speak something personal and laugh about things that is happening outside the so called office campus.

I am just waiting to relish the prawn's that is be roasted in a barbecue on our table and i find a question put "Any concerns?? How is work??" What a stupid question is that? I had to swallow my prawn without even tasting it..Taking about rating's!! Its just ridiculous. Should one validate ones work performance on this wonderful desk filled with marvelous things to eat. The the mood that I had maintained to have lunch is all gone.

Cubical Decoration

My day ended wonderfully today. Reason - We had the cubical decoration competition in our company and we had participated in it. Thanks to my colleague who pulled me into it. Usually I am a person who avoid such activity. But being part of it on her compulsion has made me realise what I had been missing for all the occasion that I had avoided. The decoration was a team idea and all three of us had equal part to play. Each of us had our own thoughts and suggestion and accepting and respecting each others thoughts is very important in such an activity. We had decided to do it two days before and we came out with a satisfying result. Finally we were happy. Our work made us happy. Appreciating yourself for your work ..is what we did. The other teams of our floor had done a fabulous job and the judges on seeing this were dumb struck. Their way of putting is was - Speechless, Fantastic, Amazing, Setting Standards, Enthusiastic, High Energy...By evening we were tired as though we had attended our relatives wedding and we had done lotz of work. Our floor was like a Exhibition, where in one end there is a Hut and other end there is a Mela, in the Middle there is a Dabba and an E-Gao. Good memories to remember. Our Manger was just proud of us. We had him in our snap...which would have made him happy!!

Makara Sankranthi - 2009

The word is derived from "Sat" and "kranti", meaning "good movement." Shankrati means transmigration of Sun from one Rashi to the other. The Shankaranti festival usually refers to Makara Sankaranti , or the the transition of the Sun from 'Dhanu' Rasi (Sagittarius) to 'Makara' Rasi (Capricorn) . This marks the starting of Uttarayana, which means northern movement of Sun. - This is for the basic understanding of the festival, which is celebrated around India with different names. For us in Karnataka its Makara Sankranti.
I feel envious when I hear my Kannadiga friends let me know the various rituals that they need to perform that day, especially the ladies who are newly wedded.
I would like to share the way in which I celebrated. Knowing that its an important festival for people around me, I was enthu in doing something different today. I decided to gift something new to myself. I bought a mobile phone - Sonly erricson -w580i, its had many features, which i need to explore. A visit to the temple in the evening made the day worthwhile. Its Makara Joythi at Shabarimala, where thousands of devottee see the divine light high up the mountain that day. My Sankranti festival contined the next day by celebrating a Sari day in our office. Ofcource for which not all participated, it was more off like a Senior ladies celebrating

Christmas at Office-08

In my opinion, our floor is very louzy, including me, its just because of the surrounding. No one there when we are working. Collegues gather when we leave office. So, how are we supposed to get a Christmas atmosphere in the office. But, we did get a feeling yesterday by Reji bringing a hot baked cake, which was delicious to eat. That was the first time that I had a hot cake. We did take few snaps at office. This is memories at Oracle during Christmas that I would take along.
